She counsels clients in civil tax examinations, appeals and litigation, and she also represents clients in criminal tax investigations and defends clients in criminal matters.
Part of her practice includes representing clients in state and federal securities investigations and litigation. She also assists individuals and businesses that come under investigation by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Schwerin earned her law degree in 2010 from Washington University in St. Louis. After law school, she joined Capes Sokol as an associate and rose to shareholder of the firm in 2018.
Schwerin is active in the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Bar Association Section of Taxatiion and The Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis. She often speaks and writes on tax law issues.
In 2017, the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accounts presented her with its Outstanding Young Professional award. Outside of her practice, she is vice chair of the Board of Police Commissioners for the St. Louis County Police Department. She also is an adjunct professor, teaching in the Masters of Forensic Accounting program at Webster University.
