A Missouri Republican House member is trying to add another item to the agenda for the current special session.

House member , of Town and Country, filed a proposed constitutional amendment Friday to restrict a tax on commercial property. Diehl calls it a “particularly obnoxious tax” that restricts manufacturing.

Lawmakers started a special session Thursday to consider tax incentives for Ford Motor Co. and other auto suppliers, and an overhaul the state pension system. The Legislature is restricted to those two issues unless Gov. decides to broaden the special session.

Diehl says expanding manufacturing in Missouri will require broader tax cuts. He says the higher the taxes, the less is produced.
