KCMBA presents awards at 2022 annual meeting

The Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association presented awards to seven of its members during the organization’s 138th Annual Meeting on Dec. 9 at the Sheraton Hotel Crown Center in Kansas City.
Allison M. Murdock, the managing partner of Stinson, earned the Lifetime Achievement Award, which is presented for outstanding service resulting in the growth and development of the law, improvement in the administration of justice and increased recognition of the contributions by the legal profession to the welfare of society.
Retired Court of Appeals Judge Thomas H. Newton won the Hon. Joseph E. Stevens, Jr. Aspire to Excellence Award, which recognizes an individual who has improved the quality of the administration of justice in the Kansas City area.
KCMBA Presidents’ Awards went to Michelle L. Marvel of Cannezzaro Marvel, Daniel L. McClain of Seigfreid Bingham and Michael A. Williams of Williams Dirks Dameron. This award is given based upon service to the profession, reflecting favorably upon the mission and objectives of the association.
The Young Lawyers Section President’s Award went to Courtney Stout of Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner. This award recognizes members for outstanding service to the Young Lawyers Section throughout the year.
The Outstanding Continuing Legal Education Contributor Award went to Malika Simmons, assistant general counsel and chief compliance officer for Kansas City Life Insurance Company. This award is given to an individual who has been instrumental in suggesting, implementing, organizing or otherwise supporting KCMBA CLE programs.
