Lawyers on commissions redrawing state legislative districts

The list of people tasked with redrawing the lines of Missouri’s state House and Senate district seats includes several lawyers.

Gov. today appointed members of the bipartisan apportionment commissions.

The Democratic and Republican state committees each submitted 10 names to the governor for the Senate apportionment commission, and he chose five from each list.

The parties’ congressional district committees each submitted two nominees, and Nixon chose one member from each of the committees’ lists, for a total of 18 members.

The commissions expect to hold their first meetings in Jefferson City on April 5.

According to a list provided by Nixon’s office, the Senate apportionment commission members are:

John Borbonus, D-St. Louis

Doug Harpool, D-Springfield

John Maupin, R-St. Louis

Jeff Mazur, D-Ashland

Joe Passanise, R-Springfield

Terry Riley, D-Kansas City

Miles Ross, R-Springfield

Bob Saunders, D-Liberty

Kathy Swan, R-Cape Girardeau

Yancy Williams, R-Columbia

 The House apportionment commission members  are:

Marlene E. Davis, D-St. Louis

Thomas Wilsdon, R-St. Louis

Cheryl Hibbeler, D-O’Fallon

Ann Wagner, R-Ballwin

David Courtway, R-Festus

Jo Ann Karll, D-High Ridge

Violet Corbett, R-Knob Noster

Paula Willmarth, D-Jefferson City

Chuck Caisley, R-Kansas City

W. Mitchell Elliott, D-Kansas City

Trent Skaggs, D-North Kansas City

James C. Thomas III, R-Kansas City

Nick Myers, R-Joplin

Todd Patterson, D-Joplin

Eddy Justice, R-Poplar Bluff
