The POWER List: Employment Law 2020
Staff Report//September 28, 2020//

Employment law reaches into every aspect of the economy. It is of vital importance to employees who believe they’ve suffered discrimination. It can be a lifeline to large groups of workers whose unpaid minutes add up day by day to big judgments. It’s critical to unions that fight for a fair shake or a better deal.
Just as important, employment law can be a make-or-break issue for businesses that wish to fire an underperforming employee without facing a lawsuit, that believe they are operating well within the law, that want to push back against union demands that threaten to leave their operations hidebound and unprofitable.
In this latest edition of THE POWER LIST, a new regular feature from Missouri Lawyers Media, we examine the most powerful attorneys in employment law, both on the plaintiffs’ side and on the defense. We look at practitioners who have won notable jury trials under state and federal anti-discrimination statutes, class action settlements on wage-and-hour claims and important precedents in appellate courts that continue to shape the law.
Our editorial team interviewed attorneys and other leaders around the state, reviewed records of verdicts and settlements, and consulted Missouri Lawyers Weekly’s archives to arrive at a list of what we believe are the 30 most powerful employment attorneys in Missouri.
This is, obviously, a subjective enterprise. Despite all of our research, perhaps our readers will point to lawyers who should have been included or disagree with some who made the list. We welcome that feedback. Let us know if you think we got it wrong (or right). Tell us what we might have missed. And stay tuned for new versions of THE POWER LIST later this year.
