Applications sought for Eastern District
Staff Report//September 18, 2023//
The Appellate Judicial Commission plans to meet Nov. 6 to fill the vacancy on the Missouri Court of Appeals Eastern District left by Judge Kelly C. Broniec’s appointment to the Missouri Supreme Court.
Applications for the vacancy will be accepted until Oct. 12. The commission will conduct public interviews with applicants at the Eastern District courthouse in St. Louis and select a panel of three nominees for the governor’s consideration.
Broniec’s appointment, which Gov. Mike Parson announced on Sept. 12, follows the retirement earlier this year of Judge Sherri B. Sullivan. The Appellate Judicial Commission nominated Kathleen Hamilton, Virginia Lay and Michael Wright for that vacancy on Aug. 29.
Applicants for the Sullivan vacancy can send letters to the commission indicating their interest in being considered for the Broniec vacancy as well. The commission said it would conduct abbreviated interviews with those who reapply.
