Assault victim settles with business in confidential agreement

In a confidential, pre-suit settlement, a Missouri sexual assault victim has settled a complaint with an unidentified Missouri business for $15 million.

The settlement was agreed to on March 1, 2025, according to redacted records provided by lead plaintiff’s attorney Jill Kanatzar of Dollar Burns Becker & Hershewe in Kansas City.

Confidentiality provisions prevent disclosure of both the plaintiff and defendant’s names, she said, as well as the location of the offense and the identity or identities of defense counsel.

Kanatzar said her client was 35 years old at the time of the assault, with the perpetrator age 38. The settlement was reached with a business, she added.
