Gov. Jay Nixon appointed Associate Judge Wendy Wexler Horn, of Farmington, as the new Circuit Judge for the 24th Judicial Circuit on Jan. 2.

Horn fills a vacancy left by the retirement of Judge Kenneth W. Pratte.

Horn was appointed to the associate circuit bench in 2011 and elected in 2012 and 2014. As a judge, she has presided over a variety of criminal and civil matters.

Prior to becoming a judge, she served as the St. Francois County prosecuting attorney from 2001 to 2011, winning election to that post three times. She also has worked as an attorney in private practice in Farmington.

“As a public servant in St. Francois County, Judge Wexler Horn has won respect both as a prosecutor and as a judge,” Nixon said in a news release. “I am pleased to appoint her to this new position on the bench, where she will continue to serve the people of this circuit.”
