Bhavik Patel joined Sandberg Phoenix & von Gontard in 2004 and became the firm’s CEO and chairman of its executive committee in 2016. Since then, the firm has grown by leaps and bounds, now boasting more than 150 lawyers and $62.4 million in revenue. Its main offices are in Missouri and Illinois, but the firm recently entered a new market with two small offices in Florida.
Patel is the first South Asian American to lead a major law firm in Missouri. He was inspired to go law school after watching his parents, originally from India, deal with legal issues in running their hotel business.
He earned his law degree from the University of Arkansas-Little Rock and also holds an LL.M. in Taxation from Washington University School of Law.
Patel also is chair of the firm’s wealth planning group and special needs planning group, and he is the founder and chairman of Families at Ease, a local not-for-profit entity that helps special needs children and their families.
