For Erica Perkin, it’s a good day when she obtains a great result for her clients.
“My favorite moments come when I know my clients feel taken care of and well-represented,” she says.
Perkin owns the Perkin Law Firm in Overland Park where she represents plaintiffs in personal injury cases. When she learned that attorneys advocate for people in need, she decided to pursue a career as a lawyer.
An avid blockchain investor and enthusiast, Perkin earned the MIT Sloan School of Business Certificate in Blockchain Technologies. The certificate, along with her professional experience gives her an advantage as this field continues to evolve.
She is a past Association of Women Lawyers’ President’s Award recipient and serves on the Johnson County Bar Association board of directors.
When Perkin is not working, she enjoys traveling.
What advice do you have for young lawyers?
Gain knowledge and experience but also be intentional about building good relationships with all types of people and taking good care of yourself.
What is something that would surprise people about you?
My first job was doing parrot shows at an animal farm.
If you hadn’t become a lawyer, what profession would you have chosen?
Insurance.
What is the best career advice you have received?
Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good.
What is your biggest accomplishment this year?
Making a difference in the lives of young attorneys.
