Kurt Schaefer was general counsel and deputy director for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources DNR after the Taum Sauk dam broke and served as lead counsel in a settlement for the state’s natural resource damages and restoration of Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park. He also led negotiations of billion-dollar state and federal sewer infrastructure capital improvements with sewer districts in Kansas City and St. Louis.
Schaefer has briefed and argued more than 100 appellate actions before the Missouri courts of appeals. He frequently manages trial and other legal teams on matters including toxic tort defense.
