Assistant Prosecuting Attorney, St. Louis County Prosecutor’s Office
St. Louis University School of Law

Age: 38

Practice areas: Sex crimes, child abuse, homicides

Advice to younger lawyers: Find a mentor who genuinely believes in you.

Why I chose my practice area: Growing up in Pakistan, I saw how systems failed women and children. Becoming a U.S. citizen at 16 was an awakening that justice could be real. I prosecute violent cases to give voice to the voiceless.

I might have been: An artist. I regularly paint with oils on canvas.

Best advice I’ve received:
Be yourself. Authenticity isn’t weakness — it’s strength.

Off the clock: My greatest joy comes from being a mother to a 6-year-old daughter, 4-year-old son, and 10-month-old baby with Down syndrome.

Favorite professional moment: In a first-degree murder trial, I took time during jury selection to truly connect with jurors. They returned a guilty verdict in about an hour. What stayed with me was the relief and validation in the victim’s family’s eyes.

You didn’t know: I speak four languages fluently, but according to my husband, none of them help me tell a decent joke. He says my punchlines need subtitles.
