Associate General Counsel | St. Louis Cardinals | St. Louis

Nicholas GarziaNicholas Garzia previously worked at a law firm as outside counsel supporting construction projects for several professional sports teams. Later, he formed relationships with client engineering and construction firms where he effectively served as outside general counsel.

Garzia said, “When an opportunity came to work in-house for a preeminent professional sports club, it was an easy choice to make.”

His in-house role differs from his previous positions as outside counsel. While he could previously tackle specific issues for which he was engaged, working in-house allows for follow-up discussions that shape internal processes to minimize risk and maximize efficiency. He noted that in-house counsel serves as a balancing force within a company, identifying the factor of risk into business decision-making to ensure the company does not take on risk that is disproportionate with the return.

Garzia focuses on keeping up with technological changes that affect business operations and create rapidly evolving threats, particularly regarding data protection and security.
