David Overby has racked up defense wins in medical malpractice claims.
Just a few of his most recent medical malpractice wins include the fourth largest defense win from last year.
Teamed with fellow POWER LIST honoree Kent Hyde, Overby represented a Greene County hospital and its doctor against the claims of a woman who allegedly lost the use of her arm after pain pump complications in 2021.
Mercy Clinic Springfield Communities argued that the plaintiff’s $8.5 million demand would hold the doctor liable for care from her later providers. The jury agreed.
In 2021, Overby, alongside Diane Estes, represented a Joplin hospital and its employees who faced negligence claims that a man had broken his tailbone while using the restroom unattended after a knee replacement surgery. The Jasper County jury agreed with the defendants, who said the incident did not occur at the facility.
Overby earned his law degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1987.
