Carnahan’s practice includes tax planning, corporate transactions, estate planning and business succession planning for family-owned businesses.
He is a fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel and has served as a regent for the 8th Circuit for the American College of Tax Counsel. He is also a fellow of both The Missouri Bar Foundation and American Bar Foundation.
Carnahan served as the chair of The Missouri Bar’s Taxation Committee from 1984 to 1985. He also is a member of the American Bar Association’s sections on taxation, business law, and real property, probate and trust law
In 2005, the Missouri Senate confirmed him to the University of Missouri System Board of Curators, where he served until 2011.
Carnahan earned his law degree in 1974 from the University of Missouri and his LL.M. in taxation in 1975 from the University of Miami.
