Brian Burge’s name has been attached to some of Missouri’s largest defense wins in recent years.
In 2015, he won on behalf of a doctor whose patient had died from gastrointestinal bleeding. In 2016, he represented an emergency room physician accused of negligently causing a woman’s death. And in 2018, his defense tabled a $3.4 million claim that a woman’s wrist surgery had caused a woman’s elbow injury.
In 2019, a Buchanan County jury turned down a $9.1 million award in alleged damages in favor of Burge’s client, an emergency room doctor alleged to have missed signs of a man’s disabling brain aneurysm.
In 2021, a man who later died from colon cancer was warned of mild inflammation in the emergency room months before his diagnosis, and his family alleged that the hospital was negligent. The claim alleged $3 million in economic losses and requested $8.5 million from the jury.
Burge earned his law degree from the University of Kansas in 2003.
