Gore hires six additional prosecutors

Five more assistant circuit attorneys have joined the St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office, bringing the total of new “key hires” to 14 since Circuit Attorney Gabe Gore assumed office on May 30, the office announced.

The five new hires are Lopa Blumenthal, Tanja Engelhardt, Jeff Jamieson, Grant Simon and Jessica Vestal.

The Circuit Attorney’s Office also brought in Gordon Ankney of Thompson Coburn as a special assistant circuit attorney, meaning Ankney is keeping his full-time position in the private sector but is dedicating pro bono hours to prosecuting cases for the circuit attorney. Ankney is the fourth special assistant circuit attorney to be sworn in under Gore’s leadership.

“We will keep the St. Louis Circuit Court courtrooms busy. These experienced attorneys have the skills to prosecute our most serious violent felonies. We are adding the attorneys necessary to aggressively prosecute violent criminals and make the St. Louis community safer” Gore said in a press release.
