Well-known attorney and beloved community member Maurice B. (Marcy) Graham has died after 62 years of practicing law and aiding hundreds of clients.
Graham, who at the time of his death was president of Gray Ritter & Graham, died peacefully on Sept. 9, according to his obituary. He is survived by his son and his wife of 59 years.
Graham obtained his JD from Mizzou and practiced law in Fredericktown for years before moving his practice to St. Louis.
“He started out as a country lawyer and over time his practice evolved into litigation as he was soon representing clients in state and federal courts in Missouri and throughout the years in courts in Montana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, South Carolina, Illinois, Iowa, Texas, Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico,” according to the statement. “Though recognized as a lawyer who was often in his office seven days a week, he did have many outside interests.”
One of his interests outside of his career and family was his love of football. Before attending law school, Graham attended Central Methodist University where he played and lettered in football. He also spent ten years as a high school and small college football official and was assigned to officiate two Missouri State football championship games.
Graham served on numerous boards and committees, serving as the president of The Missouri Bar, serving on the American Bar Association House of Delegates and on the Board of Curators for Mizzou and Central Methodist University.
