Missouri appeals judge takes federal bench in Eastern District

Former Missouri Court of Appeals Judge Cristian M. Stevens was sworn in Tuesday as the newest judge for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri.
Stevens was sworn in by Chief Judge Stephen R. Clark.
According to Missouri Courts, Stevens has worked in both the public and private sectors, most recently as a Missouri Court of Appeals judge, and previous served as an assistant U.S. attorney from 2002 to 2017, and first assistant attorney general in the Missouri Attorney General’s office from 2019 to 2021. He was appointed to the Court of Appeals in October 2021.
Stevens graduated with his law degree from the University of Missouri in 1998 and went on to clerk for Chief Judge Pasco M. Bowman II for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit after graduating law school to 1999.
