Jury awards $10.6 million to former UBS worker

A former employee of the Kansas City branch of UBS Financial Services won nearly $10.6 million on claims that she was sexually harassed, then fired in retaliation for gathering evidence of her case.
A Jackson County jury returned the verdict in favor of Carla Ingraham on Tuesday afternoon, following a trial that lasted more than three weeks. The jury, however, entered a defense verdict for James DeGoler, a broker at UBS who was alleged to have harassed her.
The jury returned a $350,000 verdict on Ingraham’s harassment claim and $242,000 on the retribution claim. The $10 million punitive award was returned after a brief second phase of trial.
The case is Ingraham v. UBS Financial Services, 0916-CV36471.
