Pro Bono Spotlight 2023: Rose Tanner

When Rose Tanner helps a pro bono client, it is often in a situation where their living situation is at stake.

“They are behind on their rent or there is a problem with the property that they can’t get the landlord to fix,” said the 38-year-old St. Louis native.

By offering her services in landlord/tenant matters, Tanner may find herself going to court or reaching a settlement agreement that could create a payment plan or locate rental assistance for her client.

“I don’t get to represent individuals on a day-to-day basis with the work I do in business litigation, so this really gives me a chance to help people on an individual basis who really need the help,” said Tanner, a recipient of the Hon. John R. Essner Young Lawyer Award.

Before law school, earning her degree from Saint Louis University in 2019, Tanner spent a decade teaching in the St. Louis Public Schools.
