Tom Stewart has achieved some of the nation’s largest “rails-to-trails” cases, winning compensation for owners of property adjacent to former railways converted to hiking trails.
In 2014, Stewart and his team reached a $141 million settlement with the U.S. government for 253 landowners in Washington state and recovered $33 million for 260 landowners in South Carolina in a similar case in 2013.
Stewart, who co-founded his current firm in 2015, also litigates pipeline trespass cases, inverse condemnation by governmental agencies and other real estate ownership matters. Over his 40 years of law practice, Stewart has handled over 60 jury trials.
