Cutback will have consequences

Missouri legal aid offices now have about $271,000 less in their budgets after Congress earlier this month approved spending cuts across the federal government. If they can’t find the money elsewhere, then the cuts could translate to about 605 fewer cases that Missouri legal aid lawyers can work on for low-income people. That factors in average case costs of $350 to $555 for each program.
