Head-on crash on rural road settles pre-suit

A Kansas City man reached a $100,000 settlement against a driver who allegedly caused a head-on collision, according to his attorney.

John Fischesser of Brown & Crouppen said that on Aug. 5, 2018, Gerald Harris II was driving eastbound on Missouri Highway 10 in Ray County. At the same time, Homer Moore, of Denver, Colorado, was traveling westbound. Moore’s 2013 Ford Fusion crossed the center line and struck Harris’ 2017 Chevrolet Sonic head-on.

Harris suffered injuries to his neck, back, right hip, right knee and right shoulder. He underwent chiropractic treatment and was instructed to continue his home exercise program.

Harris’s claim was resolved prior to litigation. His insurer, American Family Insurance Co., paid its policy limits of $100,000, Fischesser said.

The accident spawned two other lawsuits. According to court records, David Parsons and William Scott were passengers in Harris’s vehicle, which he drove for Uber. Harris, Parsons and Scott all alleged that Moore was intoxicated at the time of the collision. Moore denied that allegation. He has since been dismissed from both suits.
