A St. Louis County woman who was catastrophically injured in a three-car collision settled her claims for $150,000 with multiple insurers, according to her attorney.

Andrea Stanley of said the 27-year-old woman was driving to work on Jan. 17, 2019, in cold, snowy weather. While eastbound on U.S. 67 at the intersection of Jamestown Mall Road, the plaintiff’s 2012 Nissan Maxima was struck head-on by a 2015 Hyundai Sonata, causing it to spin. The Maxima was then hit by a 2003 Chevrolet Impala.

Stanley said neither the plaintiff nor the Sonata’s driver could remember the circumstances of how the collision occurred. The Impala’s driver told police she saw the Maxima spinning out in the eastbound lanes, but she was unable to avoid hitting it.

The plaintiff lost consciousness and was immediately transported to the hospital, where she remained for more than a week. She was treated for a broken pelvis, lacerated kidney, lacerated liver, several fractured ribs, fractured vertebrae and injuries to her head, face, chest, arms and legs. She required surgery to repair her pelvis and right hip. After healing from her surgery, the plaintiff underwent months of physical therapy.

Stanley said the plaintiff entered into agreements for the policy limits from both of the other drivers’ insurance carriers. The Sonata’s driver had limits of $25,000 through Esurance, and the Impala’s driver carried limits of $100,000 through Farmers. The plaintiff then received the $25,000 policy limits of her own underinsured motorist coverage through AAA.
