Woody Cozad has held firm against years and years of attempts to change the Nonpartisan Court Plan on behalf of his client, The Missouri Bar.

He first cemented his influence on the matter when an initiative petition flopped at the 2012 ballot. His clients include the Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys and the CNS Corporation.

Cozad earned his law degree from the University of Missouri in 1972. Before he first registered as a lobbyist in 2003, he practiced with a legacy firm of Stinson for more than 20 years.

Toward the tail end of his private practice, he chaired the Missouri Republican Party from 1995 to 1999.

He chaired the Missouri Health and Educational Facilities Authority and the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission.

Cozad also was a member of the University of Missouri Board of Curators under Gov. John Ashcroft and Gov. Kit Bond.
