Sydney Paquette strives to enjoy the lighter side of life, even on the toughest days. “I make sure I laugh multiple times every day no matter how good or bad the day is,” she says. “There is always something to laugh about.”
What inspired you to get involved in the legal profession?
I was the odd little kid that wanted to be a lawyer at age 6 instead of a ballerina or baseball player. My family was involved in litigation when I was 8 after our house flooded and we lost 90 percent of our possessions. That further inspired me to become a lawyer.
What has been your favorite moment as an attorney? After a hard-fought criminal trial and sentencing involving a child victim, the child gave me a bracelet that she had made. Each charm she had placed on the bracelet had a special meaning to both of us.
What is the best career advice you have received?
Never stay at a job where you are not treated well. Life is too short to hate your job.
