From a young age, Tony C. “Trey” Watkins, III was interested in the lessons of the past.

“As I would learn about the influential people who shaped not only American history, but also world history, many of them had a legal background or received legal training,” he said. “The problem solvers of the world were either engineers or lawyers.” 

A two-time defensive player of the year during his time on Fontbonne University’s basketball team, he would go on to get the highest GPA award at Three Rivers College. Now, Watkins makes an impact every day serving clients in a wide variety of transactional law from entity formation to asset purchases to mergers and acquisitions.

What is the best career advice you have received? 

The best career advice I have ever received is also the most given, work hard. While having a good work ethic is important in any career, it is required for being a lawyer. The legal career demands a lot from you, especially time. You have to be willing to put in the time and make sacrifices because this job does not end at 5 p.m.
