Barbara Tyson grew up in St. Louis and chose to build her appellate practice there. Tyson specializes in appellate law, arguing legal error to judges rather than facts to juries. She said she hoped she’s “viewed as a fierce advocate who takes the law seriously.”
Tyson represents corporate clients with hundreds of millions or billions of dollars at stake. She maintains an active pro bono practice and successfully invoked the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction to reunite mothers with wrongfully retained children on two occasions. Tyson explained that it is difficult to imagine something more meaningful than returning a child.
She serves as president of the St. Louis Chapter of the Federalist Society.
