Jonathan Sternberg fell into appellate practice while working for an appellate lawyer during law school. He has devoted his practice entirely to what he described as “appeals and appeal-related things.”
For nearly two decades, Sternberg has handled hundreds of appeals across Missouri, Kansas and multiple federal circuits. Trial lawyers and clients bring him in when cases turn on legal issues, records are complex or margins for error are thin.
His memorable cases include obtaining post-conviction relief for criminal defense clients, appeals that shaped legal standards and high-stakes custody matters. He is presently co-chair of the Missouri Bar’s Appellate Practice Committee and regularly writes and speaks on appellate practice.
