Mike Downey frequently argues before the Missouri Supreme Court and other tribunals on behalf of attorneys who face professional discipline.
He represented Kim Gardner as the attorney general sought to oust her from the St. Louis City Circuit Attorney’s Office on charges of misconduct. She ultimately resigned.
He also represented Ryan McCarty, a former associate general counsel for the Kansas City Police Department who faced disciplinary action after he was accused of violating attorney client privilege in a whistle-blowing incident.
Downey published a book titled Introduction to Law Firm Practice in 2010 and has published more than 200 legal articles. He is a member of The Missouri Bar Board of Governors.
