Lashly & Baer, St. Louis

Lisa O. StumpLisa Stump became president of Lashly & Baer in 2018, succeeding longtime firm leader — and fellow POWER List honoree — Ken Brostron in the role.

While serving as the first woman to lead the firm, Stump also maintains her practice, which concentrates on governmental and public institutions. She leads the firm’s education practice and advises schools and other public entities on issues ranging from taxation and bond issues to student discipline, special education and religion in schools.

Stump’s clients include the Ferguson-Florissant and Rockwood school districts, as well as the city of Crestwood, several public libraries and the Bi-State Development Agency (better known as Metro).

Stump is a member of the National School Boards Association. She served on the policy advisory committee of the Missouri School Boards Association from 2000 to 2006 and also served on the board of the Missouri Council of School Attorneys, including as its chair from 2005 to 2006.

Stump earned her law degree from Washington University in 1989 and has been with Lashly & Baer since then. Missouri Lawyers Media honored Stump as a Law Firm Leader at the Women’s Justice Awards in 2019. The same year, she received the YWCA Metro St. Louis Leader of Distinction award.
