Joe Glynias named next chair of Husch Blackwell

Husch Blackwell has selected Joe Glynias as its next executive board chair.

Glynias, who has spent his entire legal career with the firm, succeeds Catherine Hanaway when her term ends March 31. Hanaway, a former speaker of the Missouri House and U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri, had served in the role since 2021. The firm said she will return to full-time practice.

The transition comes shortly after the official start date for Jamie Lawless, who began as Husch’s new chief executive on Feb. 1. Lawless, who is based in Florida, is the second non-lawyer to lead the firm following former chief executive Paul Eberle’s retirement.

Glynias joined Husch’s predecessor firm, Blackwell Sanders, as a summer associate while in law school at Washington University in St. Louis and joined the firm upon earning his law degree in 2003. He previously served on the firm’s executive board from 2015 to 2022. Based in St. Louis, Glynias has a labor and employment practice with an emphasis on defense of wage and hour class actions.
