A driver and passenger injured in a two-car collision on Interstate 44 in Crawford County in December 2022 have settled a personal injury lawsuit against the other driver for a total of $1.1 million.
Several key details of the suit — including the case number, defendant’s name and the identities of their counsel — are confidential, said lead plaintiff’s attorney Ryan Krupp of St. Louis, who provided records confirming the settlement’s basic details, including a redacted Missouri State Highway Patrol accident report.
That report shows that the crash occurred on westbound I-44 shortly before noon on Dec. 3, 2022, when one vehicle changed lanes in front of the other and then began slowing for traffic ahead, causing the other vehicle to strike the first car from behind.
Krupp said that both of his clients suffered multiple herniated discs, accruing more than $280,000 in special damages.
