Joel Weeks has practiced law since 1995, specializing in sophisticated estate planning and tax matters. Beginning his career in Boston focusing on corporate transactions, Weeks transitioned to estate planning, drawn by complex gift, estate, generation-skipping transfer and income tax regulations.
Weeks has built a reputation for minimizing gift and estate taxes while protecting assets for future generations and successfully representing clients in IRS disputes. In one notable case, he secured over $20 million in estate tax savings by convincing the IRS that a bequest to a tax-exempt entity qualified for charitable deduction.
Currently co-chair of his firm’s estate planning department and management committee member, Weeks serves as trustee for client-created entities focused on land conservation and restoration.
