Justin Gelfand brings substantial experience from both sides of the courtroom in criminal tax defense, having served as a federal prosecutor with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Tax Division, where he prosecuted federal criminal tax cases nationwide.
As a defense attorney, Gelfand routinely represents clients in complex litigation against governmental entities including the IRS. His high-profile representations include IRS-CI whistleblower Gary Shapley in federal civil litigation brought by Hunter Biden, actor Terrence Howard in a federal criminal tax investigation, and Josh Duggar in a federal criminal case in Arkansas.
Gelfand frequently speaks at national conferences with the American Bar Association, Federal Bar Association, and National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and has published extensively on criminal tax defense matters.
