Mike Cargnel co-chairs the business litigation practice group at Shook. A trial attorney, Cargnel focuses on complex commercial disputes with a special emphasis on construction, having tried and won cases across the country in courthouses and arbitration rooms. He has handled conflicts involving tunneling and shaft construction in Washington, D.C., high-rise specialty foundations in Miami, advanced water treatment plants in Phoenix, soil improvement and dam construction in Alabama, deep water well construction in Georgia and power generation facilities in Texas.

Beyond litigation, he advises clients on troubled projects and challenging business endeavors. Among his recent matters, Cargnel represented a municipality in a $200 million-plus multi-use land development dispute in February 2024, an international airport operator in a P3 terminal project dispute in April 2023 and an international renewable energy component manufacturer in a multimillion-dollar supplier dispute in January 2023. He said favorable resolutions “are earned before trial only when prepared for trial.”
