Laura Lawson co-leads a construction law team serving owners, contractors and one of the nation’s top design firms. She earned her law degree from the University of Kansas in 1995 and clerked for the Kansas Supreme Court for three years before joining the firm.
Lawson handles design and construction contracts from drafting through negotiation across multiple standard form sets, defends professional negligence cases and supervises local counsel in other jurisdictions. A nine-month secondment at a large design-build firm deepened her insight into client needs.
Her recent work includes a multi-million-dollar international port security enhancement project in South America. Lawson also has defended a major medical device manufacturer for more than 12 years, most recently resolving hundreds of consolidated lawsuits in Cook County and an MDL in the Northern District of Ohio without settlement costs. She received Shook’s 2017 Excellence in Professional Development award and has presented on construction defect claims, including a 2019 webinar for Perrin Conferences.
