Steve Becker handles complex construction and development transactions, practicing across the country and abroad. Becker’s path to construction law began during a summer internship, where the pace, complexity and problem-solving of the work quickly drew him in — an interest that built steadily into a full career focus. He said the depth of that experience has given him a distinctive vantage point: “I understand how the pieces fit together and where deals can go sideways.”

His most meaningful matters have involved helping world-leading companies build and overhaul their construction procurement programs, then partnering with them over years on contract drafting, negotiation and day-to-day implementation.

His clients include Dairy Farmers of America, JBS Foods, Bunge, Bloomberg and Columbia University. Becker has served as chair of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association’s Construction Law Committee. Looking ahead, he noted that revisions to the Inflation Reduction Act are accelerating investment in solar, wind, storage and related energy-transition infrastructure — bringing complex contracting challenges alongside rapid growth.
