Law Student
University of Missouri-Kansas City
Kansas City

Reece Treasure is a first-generation law student — graduating this May — who grew up in poverty. She spent part of her teenage years in foster care before a chance job filling in as a receptionist for her hometown’s only female attorney made the legal profession feel attainable.

Prior to law school, Treasure worked as a recruiter and served on the board of directors for the Central Missouri Foster Care and Adoption Association. In law school, she served as a teaching assistant for the Legal Writing program, provided pro bono transactional assistance to lower-income entrepreneurs through the Entrepreneurial Legal Services Clinic and published a law review comment in August 2025.

She interned with U.S. Bank’s legal department and has served as a career ambassador for her school’s career services department during both her second and third years. As president of the Association for Women Law Students, she leads mentorship and professional development initiatives.

Treasure said she believes “leadership in the legal profession means creating space for others to succeed.”
