Senior Partner, Hyde, Love & Overby

Springfield

Kent Hyde has engaged in civil trial practice since 1984, representing both plaintiffs and defendants before later concentrating his defense work over the past 35 years in medical negligence and products liability. He has also served as a mediator for 20 years and takes on a broad range of other alternative dispute resolution roles, including court-appointed neutral, early neutral evaluator, insurance umpire, med-arb and mini-trial judge, with a practice that regularly extends to Arkansas, Kansas and Oklahoma.

Hyde leads by example, believing that those around a lawyer will draw their own conclusions from watching how that lawyer handles adversaries and clients. He is a Fellow in American College of Trial Lawyers.

Beyond the courtroom, he has served as organizer and chairman of Southern Missouri Bank of Marshfield and as chairman of the board of The Bar Plan Mutual Insurance Company.

He advises young attorneys: “Everything you do should make perfect sense. Otherwise, don’t do it.”
