Brian Malkmus started the new year prevailing in two medical malpractice defense cases with claims totaling over $5.5 million.

These verdicts include a lawsuit brought by the widow of a man who died in 2022 from metastatic melanoma in his brain. She sought over $4.5 million, but the jury found in favor of his clients — two Springfield doctors and their employers — after an eight-day trial.

In another matter, Malkmus was part of a team representing a doctor in a case alleging the wrongful death of a minor child due to the doctors’ delay of care. The plaintiffs sought $1 million in damages, but the jury decided the case in the defendant’s favor.

He earned his law degree in 1992 from the University of Arkansas.
